About

The ruby-doc.org Ruby documentation project is an effort by the Ruby community to provide complete and accurate documentation for the Ruby programming language.

The site hosts assorted Ruby programming documentation, including online books, articles, and API references.

It would not be possible without the contributions of outstanding Rubyists, including:

  • Dave Thomas & Andy Hunt, who's Programming Ruby, 1st ed. API section provided the foundation for the core API documentation
  • Gavin Sinclair
  • Eric Hodel
  • William Webber
  • Lyle Johnson
  • James Edward Gray II

and numerous individual library and turorial authors.

If you are interested in helping the documentation process, there is a ruby-doc mailing list. You can subscribe to the mailing list by sending a request to ruby-doc-ctl@ruby-lang.org, with a message body in the following format:

subscribe your-name

(Do not use an E-mail address for your-name. Use your actual name.)

Mailing List Archives

There is no formal list archive, but Gmane.org has been provding a Web interface to the list and offers a searchable archive.
